The continent which surrounds the earth's south pole. This continent is an ice-covered plateau with high mountain peaks. Many birds and sea mammals live on the coastline. The only people who live there are scientists and other researchers. The seasons of summer and winter are reversed in the Antarctic compared to places in the northern hemisphere like Texas. During the Antarctic summer, places like Palmer Station have 21 hours of sunlight. During the Antarctic winter, there are only 3 hours of sunlight.
